Breathing deeply and slowly benefits Super-Aging. Breathing deeply and slowly maximizes our energy, oxygenates the brain, slows the heartbeat, lowers blood pressure, and accesses the intuition of the super-conscious and the knowing-ness of the sub-conscious and more!
I began the process of learning to breathe deeply and slowly with the following exercise. The directions are to direct the flow of the inhalation to the lower level of the lungs expanding the abdomen and then directing the exhalation from the abdomen up through the chest.
Inhale slowly to the count of 4
Hold the breath for a count of 4
Exhale to the count of 4
Hold for a count of 4. And repeat.
When that is comfortable and well established after several weeks, the advice is to step the exercise up to the count of 6.
When that is comfortable and well established after several weeks, the advice is to step the exercise up to the count of 8.
Sometimes, I played with going further with the counting as a game and a test for myself. All of that seems unnecessary since I am not interested in diving.
Breathing deeply is a skill to be developed for one’s mental, emotional and spiritual life. Happy deep breathing!
