Day 222: “Haloed in splendor, the Divine Mother stood before me. Her face, tenderly smiling, was beauty.” By Paramahansa Yogananda

As I read this at age 34, I remembered how much I loved the connection I developed to Mary when I converted to Catholicism at 21 when I married in the Catholic Church. Because I thought I was excommunicated with the request for divorce, I left that church.  As I read this account, I yearned to re-invoke that earlier relationship with The Divine Mother.  Consequently that relationship has been developing slowly and surely over the years with Buddhist, Hindu and Catholic readings, Universal Dances, religious practices and prayers. My home is filled with several images of The Divine Mother from several cultures. And I like the phrases:

“Mother-Father God” and

“Male and Female Energies of the Universe.”

I often envision this image that Yogananda experienced as a visitation:

“Haloed in splendor, the Divine Mother stood before me. Her face, tenderly smiling, was beauty.” From AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI by Paramahansa Yogananda.

In meditation and in dreams I’ve been blessed with similar images. In one case there was a week-long feeling of purification with tingling in all the cells of my body for many days.  I am so grateful for that cleansing and healing.

(I am now sharing spiritual material that inspired me to long for and to create Super-Aging.)
