Yogananda was writing about a very sacred spot in India that he visited. AND when we pray in one spot over and over again it becomes sacred. I remember feeling The Holy Spirit and Presence of God in many different chapels, cathedrals, small churches, temples, street side altars in Greece and India and other holy sites. Here again is Yogananda’s quote about sacredness:
“An unequivocal conviction came over me that fulfillment would crown any of my prayers uttered in that sacred spot.” From AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI by Paramahansa Yogananda
My daughter and I prayed so often in my last car of 13 years, a Toyota Corolla named Blue Tara (a Tibetan Female Buddha) that it felt like a sacred place, plus it drove heavenly–quietly, comfortably and smoothly for 13 years. It was declared totaled by a recent flash flood. A week ago we said good-bye to it and emptied it. We realized how sacred that “spot” had become. It had evolved into holy ground on wheels. So as we said good-bye and we said prayers that de-consecrated “her” as a “church”.
I believe our prayers have power and with that repeated power comes sacredness. My we create sacredness in our wake and modify the world.
