The last chapter of the book of Proverbs in The Old Testament describes “A Woman of Worth”. I first read those words at age 14 and dreamed of being that kind of woman for “her husband”. After many years of trial and error in relationships, I decided somewhere along the line to attempt to be that kind of woman and mother and spiritual guide.
These Biblical words of a woman in charge, caring for all those around her in her home and community inspired me and still inspire me. There is no husband that I have freed to sit with elders of the land to study. However, I have chosen opportunities to sit and study at the feet of several Rinpoches (reincarnated Buddhas), several Shamen and been blessed numerous times by several Holy Women and heard words of wisdom myself. Many feminists frown upon this description of serving a man. To that I say, “Well, get over it. And serve your development in all of your relationships.”
